Artist Statement:
The Tablas Drongo lives on Tablas Island in the Philippines, where there is little remaining forest cover, mainly due to agriculture. Rough estimates of individuals left range from 70-400. They hawk insects in the air, or forage among leaves on trunks in closed-canopy forests. Their distinctive, long, forked tails are particularly attractive, and the word Drongo made me chuckle ( a mild insult in Australia), but of course the future of this species is a serious concern.
