Artist Statement:
This species was only discovered in the mid 1970s and lives in just two localities on isolated ridges of the east Andes. It inhabits the dense undergrowth of humid cloud forests between altitudes of 1900 and 2500m. Until very recently, field sightings were virtually unknown, with almost nothing having been published about them. Their song is an emphatic, descending, sharply whistled and repeated 'wheeu!'
