October 25, 2012 - Thank you to our artists, sponsors, supporters, and the passionate and dedicated army of volunteers and Grouse Mountain staff for working hard to ensure the 2012 AFC festival was a success. Together, we welcomed Robert Bateman - 2012 AFC festival patron - along with over 30 artists to the mountain on the opening weekend alone.
We showcased 90 beautiful artworks from around the world, sold 12 of them and raised over $13,000. We hosted 400 youth for our "Adventures in Art & Environment" program, from Vancouver's east-side-to-Surrey, Richmond and the North Shore and held 5 adult art workshops led by AFC artists. We screened 5 documentary films on art and conservation, shared over 24 lectures by leading artists and conservationists, presented First Nations and African cultural and musical performances, and ran live painting demonstrations by AFC artists.
In addition, we held two fantastic ticketed events including a Meet-the-Artists Wine & Cheese and AFC's 2nd annual fundraising gala. Lastly, we held our 1st AFC fundraising raffle featuring a grand prize of Mark Hobson's generously donated painting " Spotted Towhee".
Thank you to everyone who attended or otherwise supported the event. We hope the festival inspired the artist, conservationist and activist within you to take action and make a difference! We will share inspiring messages, stories and photographs with you in the weeks to come.
