Festival Preview - An Evening of Music, Birds & Art

Join AFC and friends for a preview presentation of the 2017 Artsits for Conservation exhibit, with live birds of prey and a special live musical performances by violist Thomas Beckman and the AVIA Trio.

Featuring a special talk by Dr. Rob Butler – ornithologist/artist/author, and co-convenor of the 27th International Ornithological Congress (IOCongress2018) - the world's oldest and most important global events dedicated to bird studies. AFC is the Congress' lead Partner for the Visual Arts and will be partnering it's 2018 Festival in conjunction with the late August event. The flagship event of the International Ornithologists Union, the Congress is considered the oldest and most prestigious of meetings for bird scientists. The Congress occurs every four years since first being held in Vienna, Austria, in 1884. Vancouver will be the first time the Congress has been on the Pacific Coast of the Americas.

Then, get a sneak peek AFC's Silent Skies mural - a 100-foot-long super-mural being created as the centerpiece of the Congress and AFC Festival. “Silent Skies” is an international collaborative super-mural mosaic featuring all 678 endangered species of birds of the world.
